Karpower International’s US$140 million project financing of its powership and floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) in Senegal received the “Power Finance Deal of the Year Award” at the 2021 Bonds & Loans Turkey Awards. Dentons advised Karpower International on the award-winning deal.

The transaction closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic when many agencies were already closed, bringing additional challenges to an already complex transaction. 

Dentons Banking and Finance partner Tamsyn Mileham led the transaction from Istanbul together with associates Canberk Varis, Merve Çolak and Ceren Köksoy. The team managed the entire transaction, including negotiation, structuring and closing.  

The Bonds and Loans Turkey Awards recognize excellence in Turkey’s structured finance and capital markets. The ceremony, which brought together many of the industry’s most high-profile figures, took place at the Shangri-la Hotel in Istanbul on November 25, 2021.
