Kyiv, Ukraine—Dentons Energy partner Maksym Sysoiev has been elected Co-Chair of the Renewables Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in Ukraine. He previously served as co-chair of the ACC’s Energy Committee from 2021 to October 2024. In his new position, he will work with the committee on its mandate to promote the further development, modernization and independence of Ukraine’s renewable energy sector by attracting investment.

Maksym Sysoiev has focused on the energy, oil and gas, agriculture, and infrastructure industries for nearly 20 years. He regularly advises both conventional and renewable energy companies with respect to regulatory issues and transactions and represents their interests before Ukrainian state authorities.

Much of his work is related to regulatory and market reforms, as well as the adaptation of Ukrainian energy legislation to EU standards, including his recent mandate for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) regarding a series of legislative reform proposals that aim to foster the development of wind energy in Ukraine.

He is a board member of the Ukrainian Bioenergy Association and a legal expert for the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association. The Legal500, IFLR1000 and Ukrainian Law Firms: A Handbook for Foreign Clients have all recognized him as a leading lawyer in the energy sector in Ukraine.
