Four Dentons lawyers – Christopher Winn, Maria Krestiyanova, Juraj Gyárfáš and Maksym Sysoiev - were awarded in the Europe Rising Stars Awards 2020. The annual awards recognize the efforts of up-and-coming practitioners in the legal profession across Europe. 

Christopher Winn, a senior associate in Dentons‘ Corporate group in London won two awards – namely the Corporate and M&A award, as well the jurisdictional award for the United Kingdom. He focuses on M&A, private equity and joint ventures. He is also experienced in hospitality and W&I M&A insurance, and is regularly involved in cross-border transactional work for both private and listed companies. He recently advised on the sale of Novia Financial to AnaCap Financial Partners.

Maria Krestiyanova, a senior associate in the Competition, Regulatory and Trade practice in Brussels, won the award for International Trade. She advises clients on international trade, customs law and WTO, with a particular emphasis on trade defence instruments. She has vast experience in dealing with anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguard investigations in the EU, Eurasian Economic Union and other jurisdictions worldwide. 

Juraj Gyárfáš, a partner in the Corporate group in Bratislava, won the jurisdictional award for Slovakia. He focuses on M&A, dispute resolution and competition law. He has advised on numerous high-profile M&A deals in Slovakia and the wider CEE region, including the recent sale of audience interaction platform Sli.do to Cisco Systems and the sale of Exponea to Bloomreach. 

Maksym Sysoiev, a partner in the Energy sector group in Kyiv, received the jurisdictional award for Ukraine. He is a highly respected lawyer with considerable experience in both the conventional and renewable energy sectors. He advises clients on local and cross-border transactions, and represents clients’ interests before Ukrainian State authorities

The Europe Rising Stars Awards, organized annually by Legal Media Group, define a rising star as an associate, counsel or recently promoted partner, who is under 40 years old, has up to 15 years‘ professional experience and has been acting at a partner level. The winners are selected by senior editorial staff following an extensive research process, involving interviews with legal practioners, and an analysis of magazine surveys and legal directories. Winners are judged on their professional accomplishments, advocacy and influence within their specialism, as well as peer review and referee commentary.
