Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces today that a cross-border team from its US and Canada regions won the President’s Award, the top honor from the International Practice Management Association (IPMA) for 2020.

Established in 1998, the President’s Award is given to an individual, law firm, association or other entity that has provided outstanding service to the IPMA, the paralegal profession and/or the paralegal management profession. The IPMA president may solicit recommendations or nominations from the membership or the board of directors, but the president makes the final decision as to the recipient. This is only the third time in the history of the award that it was given to a law firm, and the first time that a cross-border team has been recognized by the association.

The award-winning team is led by Tara Kim Eberhart, Practice and Docketing Director for Dentons US and Karen Tuschak, Canada Director of Paraprofessional Services. Other key members of the team include Angela King, Manager of Paralegal Services; Geraldine Chua, Susan Mohney and Angela Monroe, Paralegal Services Administrators; Courtney Bean, Paralegal Services Coordinator; Jason Bernstein, General/Litigation Docketing Manager; Amy Bruns, Intellectual Property and Technology Docketing Manager; Brian Bernhard, Denver Office Administrator; Carolyn Pollock, Manager of Legal Resource Services; and Colleen Nephin, Manager of Corporate Services. Members of the team served as Chapter Chairs (Denver and Washington, DC), Chairs of numerous committees (Emerging Trends, Communications and Managerial Resources) and on the board of directors for the IPMA in 2020. Dentons' paralegal program consists of more than 120 paralegals supporting lawyers and professionals in 23 offices in the United States and 110 paraprofessionals in six offices across Canada.

In addition to the team recognition, Monroe received the prestigious Rising Star award for her individual contributions, and Bernhard, a past president of IPMA, was recognized with a Life Membership, joining an elite group of only 11 other people who have earned this honor in the 36-year history of the association.

This follows Dentons winning Best Law Firm for Paralegal Development at the UK’s National Paralegal Awards last month, an award the Firm has picked up two years in a row.
