Varela represents a wide range of leading banks, institutional investors, and private equity houses.  He recently advised Oaktree Capital Management on the acquisition of Solvia Desarrollos Inmobiliarios, the real estate development arm of Banco Sabadell. He also advised Canadian pension fund CPPIB on the securitization of retail mortgages off the balance sheet of Spanish bank BBVA– the largest securitization in the Spanish market in 2018.
