London—Dentons has been named the fourth highest rated planning law firm in the UK in Planning Magazine's 2018 Planning Law Survey, retaining its place in the top five for the third consecutive year. UK Planning partners Stephen Ashworth and Roy Pinnock were also ranked in the individual solicitors rankings, with Stephen in second place and Roy in eleventh place.

The Planning Law Survey reveals which law firms and individual solicitors are most highly rated by the consultants, developers and officers that use their services. The survey reports Dentons as having "undoubtedly one of the longest and most impressive track records in planning…Dentons has excellent advisers – they cover all the ground very well, from high-level strategy to the nuts and bolts."

Dentons' UK Planning team is currently advising on a range of major strategic sites: for Taylor Wimpey on the Mount Pleasant housing scheme in north London; Colchester, Braintree and Tendring Councils on the North Essex Garden Communities initiative, which proposes three new towns totalling 45,000 homes; and the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham on compulsory purchase orders to support the regeneration of Barking town centre.

The team has continued to go from strength to strength. It grew by four planning solicitors in the last 12 months, three of whom joined in Edinburgh through Dentons' merger with Scottish law firm Maclay Murray & Spens in October 2017. In addition the team was named 'Planning Law Firm of the Year' at the Planning and Placemaking Awards 2016 and was highly commended in the Planning Awards 2017.
