Global law firm Dentons is delighted to announce the appointment of Stuart Cullen as Managing Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution - British Virgin Islands. Working with Stuart Bruce, lead Corporate Partner, he will institute and lead multiple phases of the firm’s robust plans to expand its full-service offering from its Tortola-based office. He will also form and strengthen strategic partnerships in the BVI and abroad.

Stuart Cullen joins from the litigation department of BVI’s largest law firm, where he was a partner. In 2017, he spent several months in that firm’s Hong Kong office and set up its temporary St. Lucia office when the Courts were forced to relocate in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. He has a particular interest in the Latin American market and in recent years has acted as BVI counsel in several of the largest Brazilian restructuring cases.

He formerly practiced from chambers in London, where he focused on insolvency and related matters, before relocating to the BVI and being admitted as a barrister of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in 2015. He originally qualified and commenced practice at the Law Library in Dublin in 2005.

Recognised by the Legal 500, he regularly advises on fraud and asset recovery claims, corporate and shareholder litigation and arbitration and trusts disputes, in addition to his insolvency and restructuring specialism.
