The implementation of the e-commerce VAT package aims, among other things, to create “a Digital Single Market Strategy for Europe”, with less complexity, less distortion of competition and less loss of tax revenue.

A broad range of companies will be touched by this, especially those with a business model focused on the B2C cross-border sale of goods – whether shipped within the EU or from non-EU to EU. These can be, for example, consumer goods manufacturers selling online, online platforms, electronic interfaces or logistics service providers, even if they do not legally obtain ownership of the goods.
