The green bond market has expanded enormously in recently years, reaching US$230 billion in issuance in 2019 alone. When considering funding for an environmentally-friendly project, the potential of the green bond market should be seriously considered.

In this article, we outline the framework for the issuance of green bonds, practical considerations and impacts on documentation, recent EU developments and future trends.
