On May 15th, the US House of Representatives passed two key bills that mark wins for clients of Dentons’ Native American Law and Policy group. HR 312, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Reservation Reaffirmation Act, which passed 275-146, reaffirms the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe reservation as trust land in Massachusetts. HR 375, the Clean Carcieri Fix, which passed 323-96, reaffirms the authority of the Secretary of the Interior to take land into trust for Indian tribes. Dentons lobbied strongly for both bills on behalf of our tribal clients.
