A Holistic Guide to Section 337 Investigations (Please note that there will be a series of three sessions under this topic.) 

In the first of a three part-series covering the basics of the International Trade Commission (ITC), this session will provide a holistic guide to Section 337 investigations. We will learn about 337 actions so you will be informed when considering the unfair competition causes that are at play in any given time and situation. We will discuss in this first session the nature of the ITC and its mission. We will learn about its investigations into IP infringement by imports, and what happens when it finds infringement. We will learn about the initiating complaint and the check list to determine if it is proper. We will learn about the timeline for the investigations, which is paramount for strategy and planning. We will learn how to stop the investigations, how to appeal the investigations, and we will learn why Bankruptcy by a party in an investigation will not stop an investigation, even though court actions are stopped. And most importantly, we will compare 337 actions to Court actions. In the second and third sessions, scheduled in late April and early May, the group will highlight the plaintiffs’ and defendants' perspectives in an ITC case. Join us for interactive and engaging discussions, as our speakers provide specific case examples and potential outcomes for both sides.
