Sirote & Permutt, P.C., is pleased to announce that shareholder George M. “Jack” Neal, Jr., was recently elected Chair of the Alabama State Bar Dispute Resolution Section for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2020. 

The Alabama State Bar Dispute Resolution Section addresses various aspects of dispute resolution; negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and other techniques to either resolve or simplify the resolution of disputes. The Section “works with the courts, the Alabama State Bar, state agencies, schools, community mediation initiatives, and businesses to promote early and peaceful resolution of disputes.”

“I’m excited about my opportunity to serve as the Chair of the Alabama State Bar Dispute Resolution Section this year as well as working with our council to provide value to our section members,” said Jack. “We will strive to continue the fine services provided by our prior leadership, including high–quality, free-of-charge CLE programs, in addition to our section’s other resources for our members and the community.”

As a member of Sirote’s Alternative Dispute Resolution, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, and Litigation Practice Groups, Jack regularly serves as mediator and arbitrator in civil cases of all kinds, excluding domestic relations. He is also certified as an appellate mediator and serves on several panels of neutrals for arbitration and mediation. Jack has a general civil litigation practice in both state and federal courts. Throughout the years, he has represented many businesses and individuals, including banks, lenders, and financial institutions, in the enforcement of their rights and also in their defense in the areas of general tort, lender liability, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, recovery of collateral and negotiations, forbearance, and workouts.
